Bethan Bide

Bethan is an AHRC CDA funded PhD student working on a project about ‘Austerity Fashion’ in post-war London with the Museum of London and the Geography department, Royal Holloway, University of London. She has previously studied at Cambridge University and the London College of Fashion.

Bethan’s interest in 1940s fashion began with her MA thesis, ‘The Shattering and Reinvention of the Fashionable Self in the London Blitz’. Her work primarily focuses on cultures of fashionable making and consumption, and the material object.
